Osbourn Park vs Battlefield
12.9.2025

I got to witness the December 9, 2025 JV basketball game vs Battlefield. There was a lot of commotion that night. The crowd and coaches were yelling, cheerleaders were cheering, basketball shoes squeaking on the floor, and the referee whistling filled the air. There was some tension between OPHS and battlefield. Both teams were playing quite rough considering how many fouls were called. OPHS started the game off strong. Second quarter was exciting as we got to see the cheerleaders give an outstanding performance on the bleachers. As second quarter continued, tension rose. Player 24, Ronan Pierce said, “I think that the second quarter offense made the biggest difference in the game.” It in fact did, OPHS made a lot of shots during quarter 2. Though Battlefield then had taken a lead in quarter 3, It was a close game considering the score was 35 to 50. However, the OPHS Yellow Jackets did end up losing to battlefield. I had asked Ronan, “What does this loss say about the team moving forward?” He responded with, “I think we still have a lot to work on,
but we have other games, so we are still have trying to improve.” This shows how the JV boys basketball team will continue to work hard in hopes that they will win more games in the future. We should be proud of our basketball team considering they practice Monday all through Friday. They worked hard this game. I witnessed a lot of amazing shots made by Player 11, Shamar, and passes made by Player 1 Taylor. I have hope that we will win upcoming games and the basketball team will continue to persevere through losses.
Osbourn Park vs Unity Reed 10.30.2025
(Football)

I witnessed an incredible varsity football game at Osbourn Park on October 30th, 2025. They played the Unity Reed Lions, who, going into this game, already had nine straight losses. Our Osbourn Park Yellow Jackets dominated the field, fighting their way to a well-earned victory.
It was senior night here at OP, and before the game all our seniors on the football team, dance team, in the marching band, and on the cheer team were presented and walked out by their loved ones. A varsity cheerleader, with whom I was able to speak with beforehand, had some heartfelt words about the cheer team and her last home game: “I feel sad because I’ve been on varsity for four years, which is kind of sad. So obviously, I’ll miss the team, and I’ll miss the program, but I’ll miss all the memories I made.” Clearly this was going to be a memorable game, and everyone was excited to be there.
With this being the last home game for our varsity team, they made sure to show up and make it a great one! The Yellow Jackets were first to receive and had a powerful start! The first half was very exciting with Osbourn Park putting points on the board right out of the gate with an early 3-0 lead from a 14-yard field goal. The momentum kept going from there - #6, James McInerney, scored a touchdown in the first quarter with #14 scoring the extra point kick. The half ended Osbourn Park 10, Unity Reed 8.
At halftime, the dance team kept us all hyped with fun choreography to “Thiller” – a great song choice with Halloween just a day away! The theme was blackout for this game, and many people were there to support. With Halloween so close, there were also a few people wearing fun costumes such as a hotdog, a jedi, and even Shrek! This was an enjoyable game to be at, and everyone was having a great time.
With a beautiful halfmoon in the sky, Osbourn Park and Unity Reed get ready for the second half. We soon learn that the Yellow Jackets were ready to maintain their momentum! Osbourn Park keeps their lead throughout the next two quarters playing strong and keeping us all invested. With two more touchdowns for our home team, they close out the season with a win against Unity Reed, 24-8.
